Blog # 8 (:
In my opinion, I think power block is very beneficial. If the students do not make good use of the time, then it won't be as helpful to them. I do not think everyone is taking advantage of the power block, especially the kids who really should be at the tutorials. I find that usually the kids that are taking full advantage of the power block are the kids who already are making honor roll and principal's list. I don't think that power block is too long, because for the kids who are actually making good use of their time during power block, they can get a lot done during it. I do think that the new and old gym should be available without signups, because people are not really going in there to play anyway. There is enough supervision on campus, because there have been less people caught skipping this year than last year. People say there isn't enough supervision because of the fights, but to be honest, it was bound to happen anyway. I do not think it should be mandatory to go to a tutorial if the student has an 85 average or above. I think that the students who have below an 85 should be required to go to tutorials. The only problem with this is, a lot of the tutorials have classes on the same day, such as thursday when about every class has tutorial B, but on friday barely any classes have tutorial. They need to be better spaced out. I prefer the 85 minutes because I can get a lot more done in 85 minutes than I could in 65. My grades have improved because of power block because I have the opportunity to study and get my work done in advance. Most of the time, teachers are available for help during tutorials, but they only help on specific tutorial days. Some teachers won't allow you to go in their rooms if they have lunch, even if you are just going to ask them a simple question. No, the freedom does not make me apprehensive or afraid.. I don't know why anyone would feel this way. I just think they need to have more open areas for people to go and talk, not just a study hall. The library is a good place for study hall, but it is VERY annoying when you can't even chat with the person next to you about the work. Williams and Holcomb need to take a serious chill pill.

Novia del campo, amapola
que estás abierta en el trigo;
amapolita, amapola
amapolita, amapola,
¿te quieres casar conmigo?

Blog # 6 (:
I am the ocelot, and I am indigenous to the jungles of Costa Rica. I am the largest representative of the small wild cats, and I am approximately one meter in length. I have markings including black spots, stripes, and rosettes on my back and my glossy fur ranges from cream to reddish to gray. My neck and belly are white with black markings. I have small rounded ears and relatively short tails. I am usually 17 to 22 pounds. I live on the ground and I rarely ever climb trees. I hunt primarily at night and my diet consists of rodents, but also other small prey including birds, fish, snakes, lizards, land crabs, and insects. I normally spend most of my day under the brush and in dense areas with lots of shade. I am very territorial. I get my daily excersize hunting at night. Humans stalk me, but most animals cannot find me because I am hidden during the day. I am hunted for my fur and I have been an endangered species since 1972. My normal life span is 8 to 11 years. The major cause of death of my species is humans hunting me. My species is now legally protected. The biggest threats to the ocelot population is deforestation and habitat destruction.

Juan Santamaría was born on August 29, 1831, and he died on April 11, 1856. He is officially recognized as the national hero of Costa Rica and there is a holiday every year on April 11, to commemorate his death. Juan was born in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Juan was a poor boy and when the president of Costa Rica, Juan Rafael Mora, asked for people to join the army, Juan joined as a drummer boy. During the war, William Walker was the enemy, and he had built a fort. Juan volunteered as a child to go and burn the fort, forcing the enemy inside. Juan Santamaria died burning the fort down, for he was shot many times. Juan only volunteered for this position under the condition that someone take care of his mother if he died. In my opinion, Juan Santamaria is a very influential person involved with the history of Costa Rica. He helped Costa Rica keep their land and independence.

Sights in Spain :)
When I visit Spain, I am going to visit Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, and Seville. While in Barcelona, I will visit Cook and Taste, Guell Park, the Church of the Sacred Family, the Magic Fountain, and SphereMania Barcelona. I chose these places because some are historic,to teach the students, like the church and Guell Park, and others provide a taste of the thrill in Barcelona. In Barcelona, we will eat at the Restaurante Parrilla Alfonsina and they specialize in the Argentinian Steak. In Madrid, we will visit Prado Museum, the Royal Palace of Madrid, and the Gateway of the Sun. I will have us visit these places because they are historic and show a lot of insight about the culture in Madrid. Here, we will eat at Tandoori Station and will try a taste of the curry and naan bread. While in Toledo, we are going to visit the Cathedral of Toledo, the Palacio de Galiana and the Museum of Visigothic Culture. I would like to visit these places because they are full of interesting history and culture. They are also very cheap for the students. Toledo has very nice restaurants and while we are here, we will be eating at the Restaurante La Ermita and ordering the classic dishes of Toledo. When we finish in Toledo, we will take the train from Toledo to Seville. In Seville, we will visit Alcazar, Seville Cathedral, Plaza de España, and the Basilica Macarena. The places we plan to visit in Seville provide insight about a variety of cultures and religions , such as Islamic, Catholic, and Spanish. I feel that this will be a good cultural experience for all the students. We will eat at Vineria San Telmo and they specialize in the Tapa Rascacielo. I will try to take the students to the open markets in the places we visit so that they can experience life in Spain on a daily basis. Also, I will have them study up on Spanish history so they are prepared for discussions when we visit museums and churches. The cost will only be about $2800. I will take roll wherever we are and I will make sure that the students always alert me before going anywhere.
